The appeal concerns alleged electoral violations noted by the Marzouki campaign.
“we spotted 300 violations on elections day. We are going to appeal against the most serious ones,” Adnan Mnasar, Marzouki’s campaign spokesperson, said in a press conference held on Monday. “Some of the appeals can be classified as electoral crimes,” he added.

Mnasar outlined some of the electoral offences committed by Essebsi supporters as following:

Use of illicit money during the electoral campaign and on Election day
Trying to attack Marzouki while he was voting in Sousse
Breaching the electoral silence law by holding signs in support of candidate Beji Caid Essebsi and defaming Marzouki
Manipulating the elderly and directing their votes by giving them flyers displaying the number 7 (Essebsi’s number in the ballot)
Mnasar stressed that some of the violations are video taped.

however, it is still unclear whether or not Marzouki is going appeal against the primary ruling.

“ We will announce our decision after the written verdict is announced,” Slaheddine Mnasri, communications manager for Marzouki’s campaign told Tunisia Live.

If Marzouki appeals against the judgement, the second round of presidential elections will not happen on December 14, and will be probably postponed to December 21 or 28 instead.
