Hunter Smith goes to Washington; leaves Colts without a punter

According to a report on ESPN.com, longtime Indianapolis Colts punter Hunter Smith has decided to leave the friendly confines of Lucas Oil Stadium and head east to our nation’s capital to play for the Redskins next season. His agent confirmed the deal late this evening, but would not reveal any of the parameters, short of it being a one year contract.

Smith is a durable veteran, missing zero games over the course of his ten year career in Indianapolis, but the Colts chose to not re-sign him when he became a free agent this off-season. He should be a big help to a Redskins squad that finished dead last in net punting average last season.
